Changing Values: Ludwig-Prandtl-Straße Becomes Anna-Boyksen-Straße

Ludwig-Prandtl-Straße on the Garching research campus is now called Anna-Boyksen-Straße. The renaming was decided by the Garching City Council and implemented with the timetable change of the Münchner Verkehrs- und Tarifverbund (MVV). It stands for historical responsibility and diversity in science.

Three Women in CIT awardees attended WE24: Together We Rise, the world's largest conference for women in engineering and technology in Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 24-26. Not surprisingly, they had a great time and came back inspired.

Four 2024 CIT Diversity Awardees Take Gold at the WomENcourage Conference Hackathon

Six awardees of the CIT Diversity Awards attended the WomENcourage conference in Madrid, Spain. The awardees travel expenses and conference fees were financed by the TUM Gender & Diversity Incentive Fund. Four of the awardees won the conference hackathon with their concept “EndoAI”, a platform that gives patients health information and guidance about endocrinology concerns. Among 12 other teams they took first place as part of the 5-person group Digital Divas.

Recruiting the next Generation

As part of the TUM Entdeckerinnnen program, a diverse set of lectures and workshops has held for a group of high-school girls.

Excellent research in the spotlight: At the graduation ceremony for doctoral and habilitation graduates of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) on February 28, 2025, eight up-and-coming talents received awards for their outstanding scientific achievements.

A new model for vibrotactile signals: Lars Nockenberg of the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and his co-authors received the Best Student Paper Award at the EuroHaptics Conference 2026 for their paper “Towards a Vibrotactile Perceptual Model Accounting for Spatial Masking.”

The Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts has awarded the 2026 Hightech Young Talent Award to Lukas Burgholzer, a postdoctoral researcher at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, for his groundbreaking contributions to software development for quantum computers.

EURO Award for Martin Bichler and Team

At the 24th Conference of the International Federation of Operational Research Societies (IFORS 2026) from July 12 to 17 in Vienna, Martin Bichler accepted the award on behalf of his team of authors. The paper won in the “Innovative Applications of Operational Research” category.

TUM Ranked 8th in Training "Digital Leaders"

TUM is among the universities whose graduates have the greatest impact on the digital economy worldwide. This is shown by the "Digital Leaders in Higher Education" rankings, in which TUM has been placed in the top 10 for the third consecutive year. In the "Computer Science" category, it ranks 2nd.
