Your ECE Student Management
Recognitions
The following study and examination achievements can be recognized upon request:
- Achievements from a previous course of study
- Achievements completed during a stay abroad as part of your studies
- Achievements from another degree program at TUM as part of a double degree
Please note: In order to apply for recognition, you must already be enrolled in a degree program at TUM.
Please read the information on the homepage carefully. If you have any questions, please contact recognitions-ece.asa(@)xcit.de.
The most important points regarding the recognition of achievements completed abroad have been summarized for you in this information sheet: Recognition of Academic Achievements Completed Abroad.
What should be noted?
Deadlines
- An application for the recognition of credits earned before starting the program can be submitted only once, and only within the first academic year.
- The recognition request for credits earned during a semester abroad may be submitted only once and only in the semester following the stay abroad at TUM.
Please ensure before submitting your application that all modules have indeed been included.
Grades and Credits
- The conversion of externally awarded grades to the TUM grading scale is carried out in accordance with APSO §16 (6) and the Bavarian formula.
- The number of credits awarded corresponds to the number of credits assigned to the respective module at TUM.
- If the credit values of the external module and the corresponding TUM module differ significantly, the module supervisor may define compensatory work in accordance with the guidelines issued by the Office of Study and Teaching. The extent of such compensatory work, measured in credits, will also be documented in the form.
- Recommendation: Avoid taking modules at the host university whose learning outcomes you have already achieved through similar modules at TUM. Such modules generally cannot be recognized
Processing Time
We will process your application promptly; however, processing may take some time. After a few weeks, you are welcome to request an interim update.
Advancement to a higher Semester
Bachelor’s and Master’s students who wish to transfer at least 30 ECTS from previous studies into their current program will be advanced by one semester. At 52 ECTS, the advancement increases to two semesters, and for every additional 30 ECTS, the student is advanced by one further semester.
Please do not confuse
The application and the recognition of academic achievements are handled independently of each other. The recognition process takes place afterwards and can only be initiated once you have been officially enrolled.
How do i submit the application?
The application must be submitted exclusively by email to recognitions-ece.asa(at)xcit.tum.de.
Required documents:
- Transcript of records
- The completed cover sheet listing all study and examination achievements for which recognition is being requested
- A recognition form for each achievement to be recognized. In addition, the module description(s) from the host institution are required — please do not submit complete module handbooks!
- Please also make sure to complete the competency comparison (Here, provide a side-by-side comparison of the acquired competencies/learning outcomes — do not copy the content — of the TUM module and the externally completed module.)
A careful and competency-based presentation of your achievements facilitates generous recognition and significantly contributes to a swift processing of your application. - You are pursuing a double degree (Tongji, Queensland, France)? Please indicate this separately in the form and also mention it again in the email text.
Modules of the Master's programme EI that have already been completed in the Bachelor's programme EI can be recognised in the Master's programme EI. (Additional Achievements) The recognition is carried out with the credits that were earned in the Bachelor's programme.
Please note: An application for recognition can only be submitted once within the first year of study in the Master EI. If credits of at least 30 credits are recognised, students will be upgraded by one semester. Please send the completed form to recognitions-ece.asa(at)xcit.tum.de .
Please fill out this form and send it back togehter with the module description to recognitions-ece.asa(at)xcit.tum.de
Here, non-subject-specific modules such as soft-skill courses, language courses, and similar classes can be recognized, provided that they are not part of the regular study plan and not part of your bachelor’s degree. (Exception: Your bachelor’s degree comprises more than 210 credits.)
