Electrical and Computer Engineering

Are you beginning your studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and looking for guidance as you start your studies? Then our mentoring program is the right choice for you! Our student mentors will accompany you throughout your first semester at TUM – as contact persons, guides, and networkers.

Summer Semester 2026
At the beginning of the semester, general information and introductory sessions for all first-semester students will take place. There you will receive essential information about your degree program and have the opportunity to meet the student council as well as the mentors.

About the Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program is part of the official onboarding services of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology. It takes place exclusively during the lecture period from 13 April 2026 to 17 July 2026 and is open to all first-semester students in the following degree programs:
- Master Electrical and Computer Engineering
In the winter semester 2026/27, the mentoring program will again be offered in the Bachelor's and Master’s programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering, as well as in the Master’s program Microelectronics and Chip Design.
Objectives of the Program
- Providing orientation: How does the start of your study program work? Which contact points are available?
- Strengthening study skills: Exchange on exam experiences, time management, advice on study techniques, and more
- Fostering networking: Joint events and peer contacts

For Mentors
Each winter and summer semester, we are looking for committed students at the TUM School of CIT who are interested in supporting our first-semester students and helping them settle in at the school and in Munich. Here are some reasons why you should become a mentor:
- Contribute to improving the study start for fellow students
- Enhance your soft skills in communication, teamwork, and organization
- Help organize events and group activities
- Build your personal network within the school
- Receive compensation through a student assistant (HiWi) contract (2 or 4 hours per week)
