Electrical and Computer Engineering

Are you beginning your studies in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and looking for guidance as you start your studies? Then our mentoring program is the right choice for you! Our student mentors will accompany you throughout your first semester at TUM – as contact persons, guides, and networkers.

Winter Semester 2025/26
At the beginning of the semester, general information and introductory sessions for all first-semester students will take place. There you will receive essential information about your degree program and have the opportunity to meet the student council as well as the mentors.
- Bachelor Electrical and Computer Engineering – Information Day: 13 October 2025, 09:00 a.m., Audimax, Werner-von-Siemens-Hörsaal
- Master Electrical and Computer Engineering – Information Day: 9 October 2025, 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Room N1070
- Master Microelectronics and Chip Design – Orientation Session: 2 October 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., online (see study organization)
- Master Communications and Electronics Engineering – Info Briefing: 7 October 2025, 10:00 a.m., online (Zoom link will be provided by email)
About the Mentoring Program
The Mentoring Program is part of the official onboarding services of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology. It takes place exclusively during the lecture period from 13 October 2025 to 6 February 2026 and is open to all first-semester students in the following degree programs:
- Bachelor Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Master Electrical and Computer Engineering
- Master Microelectronics and Chip Design
Objectives of the Program
- Providing orientation: How does the start of your study program work? Which contact points are available?
- Strengthening study skills: Exchange on exam experiences, time management, advice on study techniques, and more
- Fostering networking: Joint events and peer contacts
Benefits for First-Semester Students
- Direct contact with experienced students from your degree program
- Support with organizational issues
- Participation in group events such as pub quizzes or game nights
- Assistance in settling into academic life and living in Munich

Registration
- Bachelor Electrical and Computer Engineering: Registration is mandatory. Please use our registration link (will be provided shortly).
- Master Electrical and Computer Engineering: No registration is required. Your mentor will contact you directly before the start of the semester.
- Master Microelectronics and Chip Design: No registration is required. Your mentor will contact you directly before the start of the semester.
For Mentors
Each winter and summer semester, we are looking for committed students at the TUM School of CIT who are interested in supporting our first-semester students and helping them settle in at the school and in Munich. Here are some reasons why you should become a mentor:
- Contribute to improving the study start for fellow students
- Enhance your soft skills in communication, teamwork, and organization
- Help organize events and group activities
- Build your personal network within the school
- Receive compensation through a student assistant (HiWi) contract (2 or 4 hours per week)
