Walter Gademann Sponsorship Awards

The Walter Gademann Foundation (WGS) supports talented students, young scientists, and employees of the TUM School of CIT at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) in the form of scholarships and sponsorship awards, including the WGS Bachelor’s Award and the WGS Master’s Award.
The WGS Bachelor’s Award aims to promote young scientists in the field of electrical engineering and information technology at an early stage and honors their scientific creativity and technological approaches. This year, David Radecker received the prestigious award for his bachelor’s thesis “Development and Evaluation of an Optimized Design for VSWR Measurement in RF Power Amplifiers”. The award is endowed with 1,000 euros and is intended to encourage students to further their academic careers. The supervisor of the bachelor’s thesis was Dr. Uwe Siart, postdoctoral researcher at Professor Eibert’s Chair of High-Frequency Engineering.
The WGS Master’s Award, worth 2,000 euros, honors innovation and creative approaches. It was awarded to Ludger Masch’s master’s thesis entitled “Investigating Volitional Control of Motor Units from Distinct Neural Modules Innervating the Vastus Lateralis and Vastus Medialis Muscles”. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Cristina Piazza, holder of the Professorship of Healthcare and Rehabilitation Robotics at the Department of Computer Engineering.
Kurt Fischer Award

Prof. Kurt Fischer, long-standing honorary professor of communication technology at the former Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the TUM, donated 100,000 euros to the department in 2004 via the alumni association EIKON e.V. with the aim of supporting outstanding scientists and students. Since then, the Kurt Fischer Award has been presented for outstanding theses in the field of information and communication technology.
This year, Kathrin Klein received the award, worth 1,000 euros, for her master’s thesis entitled “Learning the Distribution of Stationary Non-Gaussian Processes based on Autoregressive Parameters”. The thesis was supervised by Prof. Wolfgang Utschick, Chair of Signal Processing.
The award ceremony took place during the graduation ceremony for the bachelor's and master's students of the Munich and Garching campuses of the TUM School of CIT. Read the follow-up report on the event in our news release.
