Despite major advances in genomic research, rare diseases often remain without a clear genetic diagnosis. An international research team, including members of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, now demonstrates how so-called “Solvathons” can help close diagnostic gaps.

Martin Schulz, Professor of Computer Architecture and Parallel Systems at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, and his research team have developed a tool that integrates quantum computers into existing supercomputers and enables them to interact seamlessly.

For more realistic simulations of wave movements, professor Nils Thuerey and his team have developed a two-phase model. Along with water, the method also takes into account the interaction with air. This authentic simulation could also help to protect coastal regions against extreme weather events.
