In informatics, the student council honors the best compulsory lecture and the best elective lecture from the past two semesters. These lecturers were delighted to receive a so-called “TeachInf Award” this year:

In mathematics, the student council awards the “Golden Compass” annually in three categories: “Best Basic Lecture”, “Best Advanced Lecture”, and “Best Exercise Program”. Here are this year’s winners:
Best Basic Lecture
1st place: Linear Algebra 1 | Prof. Gregor Kemper (Chair of Algorithmic Algebra)
2nd place: Geometry | Prof. Jürgen Richter-Gebert (Chair of Geometry and Visualization) and Prof. Tim Nikolai Hoffmann (Professorship of Applied and Computational Topology)
3rd place: Analysis 2 | Prof. Christian Kühn (Chair of Multiscale and Stochastic Dynamics)
Best Advanced Lecture
1st place: Algebraic Geometry II | Prof. Christian Liedtke (Chair of Algebraic Geometry)
2nd place: Applications of Mathematical Biology | Prof. Christina Kuttler (Professorship of Mathematics in Life Sciences)

Best Exercise Program

2nd place: Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations | Dr. Constantin Christof (formerly at the Chair of Optimal Control)
3rd place: High-Dimensional Statistics | Nils Sturma (Chair of Mathematical Statistics)
Special Award
In addition to the Golden Compass, the “Special Award for Commitment During the Orientation Phase” was presented for the first time. The one-time award went to:
Writing Mathematics Correctly | Dr. Florian Lindemann (Chair of Mathematical Optimization)
