In the current CHE ranking, the Technical University of Munich receives outstanding evaluations in Electrical and Computer Engineering. In particular, the quality of teaching, student support, and the IT and library infrastructure are rated very positively by the students.

Mathematics is essential in almost all degree programs at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). In the future, an e-learning platform will enable students to learn online. This project headed by Dr. Florian Lindemann from the Department of Mathematics has been running since March 2025.

TUM remains a global leader: In the "THE University Impact Ranking 2025", it once again ranks first in the category Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure. This is due to its contributions to sustainable innovation through research, spin-offs and partnerships.

TUMCREATE celebrates its 15th anniversary in Singapore. Since 2010, the TUM research institution has stood for innovation and collaboration. The celebrations were also attended by Science Minister Markus Blume and TUM President Prof. Thomas F. Hofmann.

Zeynep Akata, Professor of Interpretable and Reliable Machine Learning at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology, has been awarded the ZukunftsWissen Prize 2025 by the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina and the Commerzbank Foundation for her research.

The Technical University of Munich has risen to 22nd place worldwide in the prestigious QS World University Ranking, making it one of the global top 25 for the first time. Within the European Union, TUM is now ranked as the number one university.

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded Advanced Grants to two professors at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT): Martin Bichler for his project ELUD on equilibrium algorithms and Massimo Fornasier for NEITALG on optimization algorithms.

From September 8 to 12, the conference “Frontiers in Calculus of Variations and Applied Analysis” will take place at the Garching research campus: It brings together leading researchers from the fields of partial differential equations, calculus of variations and geometric measure theory to discuss current topics.

QMATH16, the 16th International Conference on Mathematical Results in Quantum Theory, will take place from 1 to 5 September 2025 at the Technical University of Munich’s Garching campus, uniting researchers in the mathematical foundations of quantum mechanics. Register now!

Under the leadership of TUM Professor Tobias Vogl, the quantum satellite QUICK³ has launched into space. The mission is testing key technologies for the secure communication of the future - using real quantum physics in orbit. Initial results are expected by the end of 2025.

The Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) and the Robotics Institute Germany (RIG) at the Technical University of Munich will showcase AI-based robotics at automatica 2025 with 25 demos, talks, and the Robothon – developed by researchers at CIT.

A digital assistant that provides cancer patients with understandable and reliable information: A research team led by Florian Matthes, Professor of Software Engineering of Operational Information Systems, and PD Jan Peeken, from the TUM University Hospital, has now received funding from Google.org.
